2012 : Mayan Countdown has been submitted to the App Store for approval. Once approved I will add a link here to the download location on the App Store.
Why did I make this app and what could you possibly use it for? I made this app because I like making apps and because I though that there weren’t any decent countdown apps to 2012, which some believe to be the end of the world.
2012 : Mayan Countdown is a novelty app that counts down the Days, Minutes, Hours and Seconds until December 21st 2012 11:11:11 AM UTC time. The app performs this countdown in 2 ways. The first countdown is done in Mayan Numerals. Why Mayan Numerals? and what are Mayan Numerals?
Mayan Numerals are composed of Dots, Bars and Shells which are written vertically. A bar represents five, a dot represents 1 and a shell represents 0. The Mayan Numerals are based on a base-20 counting system. The reason I’m using it in this app is simply because there are no other apps currently on the app store that count down using the Mayan Numerals and I thought it would be cool.
The second countdown is done using the usual base-10 counting system for all us that don’t know how to read the Mayan Numerals.
When the app is approved I will add some screen shots as well as a quick tutorial on how to read the Mayan Numerals
