Geek Clock is an app that I originally developed for the iPhone / iPod Touch and decided to bring it to the Mac.

Geek Clock is a binary clock that display’s the current time ( hours, minutes and seconds ) in binary on or off fashion. A light that is on represents a binary 1, whereas a light that is off represents a binary off. This is a must have clock for all
the geeks out there. Check out the features:

- Fully Resizable
- 9 different colors to choose from for the LED’s
- Use different colors for hours, minutes and seconds
- All options are menu or shortcut driven.
- Learning Mode
- 24 Hour Mode
- Always On Top
- Live in Dock ( Show / Hide )
- Desktop ( Show / Hide )
- Remembers last position and size after closing

List of Shortcuts:

- Command + L = Enable / Disable Learning Mode
- Command + M = Enable / Disable 24 Hour Mode
- Command + I = Show / Hide in Dock
- Command + D = Show / Hide on Desktop

Show off your geek factor with this awesome clock.

NOTE: I realize there has been some confusion about how to change the LED colors, etc… I did not make  a preferences panel for Geek Clock. Everything that you need to change the settings of Geek Clock is in the View Menu, see the screen shot below.

If you are having issues with Geek Clock, please ensure that the com.empoc.macgeekclock.plist file exists within ~/Library/Preferences/

If the preferences file exists and you’ve tried changing the colors of the LED’s via the view menu and you are still having issues, then please leave a comment below with your Mac Model, OS Version, etc…

Below are some screen shots of the Geek Clock in action:

  2. Also…

    plist always shows

    appFirstRun

is that right? Have run it ten times now.

  3. iMac / 10.7.1

No lights. Plist exists and has everything listed. The round Dock icon is replaced with the rectangular live one but has no lights. There is no tick against the selected color in the View menu.

  4. Very nice idea, just installed but doesn’t work on my iMac with Mac OS Lion.
Programm is installed and open, but there is shown only a clock wich is switched of – no ligths…
Preferences is disabled, any other settings has been changed, just the same problem.
It is a cheap program, but i think also a cheap program has to work…

Sorry for my bad english… ;-)

  5. Nice idea but it does not work on my iMac. No time displayed, no change in anything possible (e.g. colors for hours, minutes, seconds), help doesn’t work neither. I am really disappointed :-(
