Reflection is a simple to use application that is sure to be a useful tool for any graphics artist, developer or the average consumer.

Simply put, Reflection takes an image and applies a reflection affect to it, plain and simple but it doesn’t stop there. See below for the features that make this a must have tool to add to your image toolbox.

Features:
● Drag & Drop to easily import your image
● Size Adjustment for quickly resizing your image
● Reflection size adjustment to specify how much of the image you want to reflect
● Reflection Gap Adjustment to specify the amount of gap you want between your original and the reflection
● Reflection Opacity Adjustment to specify the opacity of the reflection.
● Background Preview Color Picker so you can quickly see what your resulting image will look like against any background
● Export as 1 image. When you save your image with the reflection it saves as a single image.

Reflections are a great way to make any image look more professional and is great for showcasing your work.

Supports PSD, PNG, TIFF, BMP, JPEG and many other file formats.

Below is a sneak peek of a few screen shots for Reflection:

    Chris:
I purchased Reflections via the App Store, but it doesn’t work for me at all. No matter what I drag onto the “Drag Image Here” spot, nothing happens. I see a small version of the image where “Drag Image Here” was, but nothing in the large box on the right and all the controls and fields are grayed out. I’ve tried JPEGs, PSDs, grayscale, RGB, CMYK…nothing works. Any ideas?

  4. Dear Mr. Fletcher & fellow Apple readers,

This application is simple to use, however the features or fucntions it offers I feel is too simple or bare. Additional editing tools and features with a simple to use program would have been or would be a better application or product. I for one would like to see updates continuing this idea.
In it’s current state I feel .99 cents would have been a better price. After enstalling more tools & features, such as some of which I will recomend the price may be $4.99 yet worth the download. This is a program or application I can get for free on my phone. What this does is no different.
I have some recomendations for improvement in the updates that are to come. I for one would be looking forward to updates with this application.
In no particular order they are:

1: Over lapping or a layering feature:
Q: What if I want place the reflection or a reflection in the middle of the piece?
2: Placement of the reflection feature:
Q: What if I want to have the reflection above the piece rather than below it?
Q: What if I want the reflection to the left or right?
3: Placing more than just one reflection feature:
Q: What if the look I am going for would include having a reflection below, above, one to the right, on to the left and one in the middle.
Allow for muliple relfections to be applied.
    4: Angle & Perspective features:
Q: What if I want to place the reflection in perspective? This would create and allow for the reflection to give the effect of being in the 3rd dimension.
Q: What if I want to place the reflection at an angle? The reflection here is a straight shot. I want to be able to place a reflection other than at 90 degrees.
So unless the original shot is already at a angle you currently are unable to perform this task.
    5: More sizing features:
Q: What if I want the reflection to be smaller or larger than the original piece? The size feature given allows you to adjust how much of the 90 degree
reflection or adjusts the vertical axis of how much you want to be showing. It does not actually allow you to change the size of the reflection. Really this
function should be called Reflection Visiability rather than Reflection Size. So recomendation here is to allow the function of (sizing) visiability on
horizontal & vertical axis. Also what if I want the visiabilty to be circular in shape? or triangluar/ prism in shape? Including all the basic mathematical
shapes would really add a special spark to the application. Some include: cube, oval, hexagon, octagon, sphere, cylinder, cone, pyramid, diamond,
regular octahedron, parallelepiped, torus, helix & all the archimedean solids. It be neat to be able to bend the reflection in these ways.
    6: Visibility features:
Q: What if I want to break up the visibility of the reflection in two? Have half of the reflection at Opacity 100 and the other half at 50% is one example.
Or what if I wanted to break up the reflection in 4 or 8 parts?
    7: Filter features:
Some distortion, warping, to curl the reflection, to make it wavy, etc.

I thank you for listening. I thank you in advance for the improvements that you will incorporate into your application. Have a great day! Peace.

    • Jude,

I had a quick peak at your feature requests and I will be looking at each one of them over the weekend to see what I will implement. I definitely like most of your ideas. and have a few questions about some of them. I’ll send you an email this weekend so I can get some more clarification.

      Thanks,

      Chris

  5. Hi there I just purchased Reflection, from the AppStore. I tried to save some images to put on Facebook, but the gap between original image and the reflection is always white, and in FB the background for images is black, I tried to change the background color in reflection as well but no way the gap is always white. Any idea?

    thank you in advance

    Enrico P.

    • ah ok I got it, the gap is an alpha so meybe FB background behind the images is white and not black like it seems. Any way to have the possibility to change the gap tranparency to 0?

      • Enrico,

I will look into this and add it in as an update.

        Chris

        • This is not just happen with facebook. After saving the image I see in my Finder, or wherever I choose to place it and when opening the file the color I placed does not appear. The only way I have been able to save the image with the corresponding color I choose is taking a screen shot of it. The gap and the opacity may be correct but not the color.

          • Jude,

The background color was not meant to be saved with the image but rather serve as a preview to see how your image with reflection would look against any particular background color. I’ll consider adding in an option that allows you to save the background color with the image.

            Thanks,

            Chris

    Hello!
I’m from Brazil and I write by google translator.
I wonder if this softaware reflexes can do with images of three-dimensional products. like these I nominate this site:

    I await your response.

    Thanks!

    • Daniel,

Reflections takes a source image makes a copy of it, then it flips it, repositions it and applies a gradient mask with alpha. It should certainly be able to make reflections of the images you mentioned.

      Thanks,

      Chris
