ChipBurner with a W27C512 EPROM selected, its contents in the hex editor, and favourite and recent chips in the sidebar

Thousands of chips, one window

Over 19,000 chips on the TL866II+ and over 25,000 on the T48: UV EPROMs, EEPROMs, parallel and SPI flash, BIOS chips, AVR, PIC and 8051-family microcontrollers, and GAL16V8, GAL20V8 and GAL22V10 with JEDEC files. Only the chips your programmer supports are listed, and you can search by part number, maker or type. Read a chip into a fast hex editor, edit it, and write it back.

Every step, checked and timed

Erase, blank check, write and verify, with a steps panel that shows each stage and how long it took. ChipBurner checks the chip’s ID first, and suggests the right part when the ID doesn’t match. Open and save .bin, .hex and Xgpro project files.

Fuses, named bit by bit

AVR fuses, PIC configuration words and 8051 lock bits, with every bit named. ChipBurner warns you before a setting locks you out of a chip, and keeps factory calibration values safe when a chip is erased.

The C64 PLA, tested

ChipBurner drives all 65,536 input combinations and draws the result as the C64’s memory map. The mask ROM tester checks 2316, 2332, 2364 and 23128 ROMs, and names the ROM when it knows it.

Watch every cell

The DRAM tester for the 4164 and 41256 draws every cell as it goes. There’s an SRAM test too, and 74xx and 4000-series logic tests that can even identify a logic chip whose markings have worn off.

At the bench

Fast SPI flash

SPI flash is detected for you, and the T48’s fast SPI clock reads a 2 MB flash in about a second and a half.

Ready for production runs

Serial numbers for production runs, and several programmers at once. Projects keep the chip, the data, the fuses and your notes together.

Checks your programmer too

A pin contact check, a programmer self-test and a voltage test, so you know the problem isn’t the hardware.

Good to know

Before you buy

  • You need an XGecu TL866II+ or T48 programmer, connected by USB. Some chip packages need XGecu’s adapters.
  • NAND flash and eMMC are not supported yet.
  • Chip families marked Untested in the app follow the same proven method but haven’t been run on a real chip yet. Each update moves more families to fully tested.

Made for the Mac

A native SwiftUI app for Apple silicon and Intel, in light and dark mode, with recent projects and favourite chips a click away.

Private by design

No account, no tracking, nothing collected. ChipBurner makes no network connections and talks only to your programmer. See the privacy policy.
